Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question that isn’t answered elsewhere on our website? Below is a list of some of the questions most frequently asked of our office staff and teachers. We hope to save you time and frustration with our handy Q and A. If you continue to have questions, please give us a call!
What is the dress code at George Gervin Prep Academy?
We follow a general dress code principle. “We believe that all students have the right to a safe, healthy school environment. We believe that all students have the responsibility to dress appropriately and observe basic standards of cleanliness and good grooming. A student’s dress and appearance should not cause disruption, distract from the educational process, or create a health or safety concern for himself or others. Administrators have the final authority to determine when personal appearance and dress do not meet school standards and also have the authority to take appropriate action.”
Parents and guardians may purchase from any store that offers the same color and style listed in our written uniform policy. You can view our dress code and uniform policy on our Uniform Policy page.
Do you offer transportation for students?
Yes, we do have transportation services for students who need this service. Please contact the school for more information about transportation services.
Can my child bring a cell phone to school?
To ensure focus on learning, student cell phones will be collected each morning, stored at the office, and returned at the end of the day. If a student needs to contact a parent/guardian or vice versa, the school front office phone shall be used.
When should I expect a report card?
We issue official grade reports four times a year, on the last day of each quarter. Additionally, you will receive a progress report the last day of the fifth week of each quarter. Parents also have the opportunity to meet with their students’ teachers during our student-led conferences, which are held in October and March before the fall and spring recesses.
I'd like to get involved. Can I volunteer at the school?
Studies show that when parents are involved in their child’s education, children are more successful. We welcome parent volunteers in our classrooms! If you are interested in becoming a registered volunteer, please schedule an appointment with your child’s teacher to discuss his or her needs.
Does the school sponsor community service activities?
George Gervin Prep Academy supports and encourages the community participation of its student body in charitable and relief efforts to help in giving hope and relief to children and families. As such, the student body will participate in at least one annual community relief effort, which may be a local Phoenix event or an international relief effort.
