Clubs and Athletics

Organized sports are an integral part of the education we offer at George Gervin Prep Academy. Our physical education program ensures that all students enjoy the benefits of exercise while learning important life lessons about teamwork, discipline, and good sportsmanship.

Physical activity can positively affect aspects of personal development among young people as well, such as self-esteem, goal-setting, and leadership. Physical activity also helps to develop and improve cognitive skills and improve academic achievement, including grades and standardized test scores.

Extracurricular sports activities vary throughout the year, and our teachers are our coaches. Student athletes must maintain good academic standing and demonstrate model citizenship in all their school and extracurricular activities to remain eligible for sports.

Sports

We offer seasonal sports to students from 6th through 8th grade only.

  • Fall: Volleyball and Flag Football
  • Winter: Boys Basketball
  • Spring: Girls Basketball and Co-ed Soccer

Wellness Policy

Children need access to healthy foods and opportunities to be physically active in order to grow, learn, and thrive. Good health and plenty of rest promotes good student attendance and helps the students stay focused and alert during class.

Student Council

George Gervin Prep Academy Student Council represents the voice of our students. Student council members help organize community service projects, arrange school-wide special activities, and provide input on school decisions.

The goals of our student council are:

  • Help people in need—senior citizens, orphans, and the homeless.
  • Motivate positive relationships to prevent bullying.
  • Educate others to avert vandalism and graffiti and respect the property of others.

Participating in this elective is a privilege and requires students to adhere to all school rules and keep a certain grade point average. Students in grades 5–8 are eligible to participate.
